RGB to CMYK Converter
Convert screen colours to print-ready CMYK values for accurate colour output.
Why Does This Matter for Print?
Screens display colour using RGB (Red, Green, Blue) — an additive colour model based on light. Printers use CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) — a subtractive model based on ink. When RGB artwork is printed without conversion, colours can shift significantly — bright blues may appear purple, vibrant greens may become dull, and vivid reds can look orange. Always convert your artwork to CMYK before sending it to print to ensure the colours you see on screen are as close as possible to the final printed result.

Tips for Accurate Colour in Print
Set Up in CMYK from the Start
When creating artwork in Adobe Illustrator or InDesign, set your document colour mode to CMYK before you begin. This prevents any last-minute surprises when converting.
Avoid Pure RGB Black
RGB black (0, 0, 0) converts to 100% K in CMYK, which can look grey when printed. For rich, deep blacks in large areas, use C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100.
Beware of Bright RGB Colours
Very vivid RGB colours like neon greens and electric blues often fall outside the CMYK gamut and cannot be replicated in print. Expect these to be noticeably duller.
Use a Colour Profile
For the most accurate results, use the ISO Coated v2 or Fogra39 CMYK colour profile when saving your print-ready PDF. Ask us if you need guidance.
Calibrate Your Monitor
An uncalibrated monitor can be misleading. Even in CMYK mode, what you see on screen is a simulation. Monitor calibration tools give more accurate colour representation.
Request a Hard Proof
For colour-critical jobs, request a printed proof before the full run. This is the most reliable way to confirm how your colours will look in the final product.
